@SOUTH WEST TECHNICAL DIVING

TEC 40 DIVER

Course Overview

The purpose of the Tec 40 Diver programme is to introduce students to technical diving equipment and procedures. The course is designed to comfortably transition students from the recreational diving environment into the technical one and will introduce both the individual and team skills required to safely undertake limited decompression and other technical dives.

What’s Involved

This course has three components: Knowledge development, practical application and open water dives. These will be scheduled to suit divers enrolled in each course, but typically will be run over a long weekend.

Course Skills

Buoyancy and trim, propulsion techniques, valve failures, out-of-gas emergencies, SMB deployment, controlled descents and ascents, team protocols, dive planning.

Why Do the Course?

This course will appeal to experienced recreational divers who are now seeking to move into the technical diving world. The course qualifies students to use stage bottles and a technical equipment configuration in order to complete limited decompression dives (max. 10 mins) to a maximum depth of 40 meters using nitrox mixtures of up to EANx50 for decompression. The techniques in gas planning and backup equipment also make recreational level dives much safer.

What’s Included

The course fee covers instructional time, manual, use of facilities including pool. Students are expected to pay any boat costs and accomodation costs required to complete the course but we do have packages available. Only after the successful completion of the course do you pay your certification fee – “you pay for training – you earn the certification”
