@SOUTH WEST TECHNICAL DIVING

EXTENDED RANGE DIVER (ERD LEVEL 4)

This program is designed to bridge the gap between the advanced / decompression diver and the deep explorer. The ERD program is a diving oriented course with extensive practical diving included.

The ERD course may be a stand alone program or taught in conjunction with either the TSD or the TMD course but not both. The following topics will be stressed: gas supply management, decompression table selection, team functioning and mission planning relative to longer and deeper dives. The maximum recommended depth in this program is 50 msw.

This course prepares the diver for ultra-deep, “mission-oriented” dives and entry into the Tri-mix Exploration Program. This is an equipment intensive course requiring extensive counseling by the ANDI ERD Instructor. 6 – 8 hours of lecture and 3+ open water dives are required for certification.

Minimum bottom time for the dives is 240 minutes.

*1 – The deepest dive permitted during training.
*2 – At least one training dive must meet this minimum.
*3 – Other than the first evaluation dive no shallower dive may be credited toward certification.
*4 – One deco cylinder must cover all stops and bail out.
*5 – Includes all TMD info from L5 course.
*6 – Other prerequisites may apply.
*7 – Team members must use the same gas mixtures.

Note 1: divers may only move 2 levels during one course series. In order to move levels the candidate must have 25 dives at the ERD level.

Note 2: Extended Range Diver L4 program is an option for ideal conditions when helium is not available, otherwise Intermediate Tri-Mix L4 is the best option.

Note 3: Extended Range Diver L4 program encompassing PN2 greater than 3.6 Bar but less than 4.5 Bar requires a Standards Waiver request to IHQ or RHQ. The waiver is applicable in clear, warm waters only.

Cave and overhead training is not to be undertaken lightly, nor seen as a natural progression or some higher level diving badge or award. Cave diving is also not for thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies. We suggest you watch the video here….And then get in touch with us for a coffee and chat about the way forward.

Our cave experience encompasses Irish and UK caves, France, Italy, Mexico, Florida, Philippines, Spain and more. We are experienced in open circuit from Mexico style sidemount to full CCR. We can train you to expedition level including mixed gas.

The pathway will not be fast, there will be no shortcuts, but we will be delighted to dive any cave with you when done!
